Eight held for milk adulteration in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 19 (UNI) Eight persons, including four distribution managers of Gokul, Mahananda, Godavari and Maharthi dairy, were today arrested on the charge of adulterating of milk from the western suburb of Malad.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials had conducted a raid at Tapovan D gate, Kurar village at 0230 hrs and seized 3489 litres of milk worth Rs 87,078 from the spot, police said.

The police have identified four of the eight as Jahangir Rasul Ansari (32), D M Devramni (36), Deepak Babulal Jaiswal (36) and Ravi Chavan -- all salesmen. The identity of four distribution managers was not disclosed.

A case of milk adulteration has been registered by the Kurar police against all of them, police added.
