East Central Rly's CPRO gets anticipatory bail
Patna, Feb 19 (UNI) East Central Railway's Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) Amrendra Kumar Chandra, arrested in a cheating case, was today granted anticipatory bail by the sessions court.
Patna District and sessions judge Mandhata Singh directed Amrendra Kumar to surrender before the court of chief judicial magistrate of Patna within a month and the CJM was directed to release Mr Chandra on bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 10,000 with two surities of the like amount.
The CPRO was named as the accused in a case registered in Kotwali police station of Patna filed by the general secretary-cum-spokeperson of JD(U) Shivanand Tiwary.
According to charges, a press release was sent to the media from the the CPRO's office at Hajipur under the letterhead of Press Information Bureau (PIB) without any authorisation. The release was refuting Mr Tiwary's statement given in a press conference in regard to the increase in bed roll charges by railways.
