Criminals murder promoter agent in Bengal

Barrackpore, Feb 19(UNI) A 25-year-old man was shot dead this afternoon at Golaghata under Lake Town police station in North 24 Parganas.

Police said Biju Roy, the victim of Champahati in South 24 Parganas, was a booking agent of a multistoried apartment under construction where he was appointed early this month by the promoter.

Two youths called Roy from his working place and gunned down from handshaking distance before running away.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Bidhannagar, Ashok Biswas rushed to the spot and began an investigation.

In a mishap a 25-year-old cyclist was killed last night when a private carrier hit him on the BT Road at Panihati under Khardah police station in North 24 Parganas.

Later local people blocked the the busy road creating traffic jams for some time protesting police "inaction" against the reckless driving at night.
