Court pronounced life imprisonment in murder case
Mumbai, Feb 19 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a person to life imprisonment, after convicting him of the murder of a senior citizen here in December 2005.
Additional sessions judge J M Vyas, while convicting Ganesh Bhau Sonawane (41), also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000, on him.
According to the prosecution case, Sonawane had entered the residence of Laxmibai Balaram Narayankar (67) on December 18, 2005, with the intention to rob her. The elderly woman had, however, tried to resist the robbery bid, following which the miscreant attacked her with a sharp weapon and seriously injured her. She succumbed later. Sonawane had made away with jewellery worth around Rs 43,000 from the house.
