Body of a girl recovered from canal in Anand
Ahmedabad, Feb 19 (UNI) A body of a five-year-old girl was recovered today from Narmada canal near Tarapur town in the district.
The girl had been missing missing from February six, police said.
The deceased - Parul Parmar, daughter of Manibhai Babubhai Parmar, went missing on February 6, while watching a marriage procession in Palej village in the district.
Police took into custody Narsibhai Parmar from the village in this connection and registered a case against him under IPC 363 and 366.
On interrogation, the accused was changing his statements. First he said the girl was sacrificed in a ritual and a police team began investigating but this aspect turned out to be false. Then he said that he had sold the girl in Botad in Surendranagar district and that too was checked without leading the police to a confirmed result. Finally, he said the girl has been pushed into Narmada canal.
After a thorough search the body of the girl was recovered this afternoon. However, the motive behind the murder is not yet known and Petlad police are investigating the matter.
