Puducherry, Feb 19 (UNI) The Small Scale Industries (SSI) in the Union Territory today urged the administration to conduct a survey on SSIs and strategise policy measures like cluster approach, thrust areas, incentive schemes and rehabilitation.

Addressing a press meet here, Association of Small Industries of the Union Territory of Pondicherry (ASIUTOP) Secretary Parthasarathi demanded that the administration grant permanent subsidies to support and sustain the micro-sector.

He wanted existing industrial estates to be given a face-lift by providing essential components and other facilities. Clearance scheme under IGB should be further simplified. The administration provide continuous power supply.

Mr Parthasarathi said in the VAT regime, the CST paid on both input and output should be compensated by the state government till the CST was fully phased out.

Likewise, suitable compensatory subsidy should be extended to offset consignment transfer VAT, he added.

He said units under ST exemption period should be permitted to switch to VAT and VAT payment made to the government should be fully refunded.

The administration should ask the Centre to amend the CST Act and abolish C-form for inter-state supplies made to actual users and exempted dealers, he added.
