Around 60 p c turn out in civic polls

Hyderabad, Feb 19: An estimated 60 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in the elections to the Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry Municipal Corproations and Hindupur municpality which went off peacefully barring a few minor incidents.

According to official sources, the final figure would be known late at night.

Elections were held for the 72 divisions in the Visakhapatnam Corporation where 50 per cent of voters exercised their franchise.

An estimated 66 per cent of voters cast their votes in the Hindupur Municipality.

According to a report from Rajahmundry, more than 70 per cent voting was recorded in the Corporation election.
