All party meet resolves to file review petition

Chennai, Feb 19 (UNI) The all party meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu government to discuss the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT), today unanimously adopted a resolution to file a review petition before the Tribunal.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, after an elaborate deliberation, resolved to file the review petition under section 5(3) of Inter-State Water Disputes Act, 1956 to protect the interest of the people of the state on the issue.

An official release here said the meeting discussed in detail, the favourable factors and shortcomings in the final award in respect of the state and file the review petition after seeking the advise of technical and legal experts and listing out the clarifications and the means to implement the award.

Besides the allies of the ruling DMK, the meeting was attended by all the opposition parties, including the AIADMK, MDMK and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
