AICC to organise Dharna Programme in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Feb 19 (UNI) All India Christian Council (AICC) will stage a ''Dharna'' in front of the Ahmedabad Collectorate on February 22, demanding action against those persons responsible for digging up a Christian graveyard in Vatva area of the city.

National Joint Secretary of AICC Samson C Christian, in a statement here today, sought the suspension of Police Inspector of Vatva Police Station under whose jurisdiction the alleged activity had taken place.

He said the city graveyard was dug up by those having vested interests, crosses on tombs were broken and thrown outside the graves, which had hurt the sentiments of the Christian community.

The Christians in the area had made many representations to the authorities but police were not ready to register any FIR, he claimed A dharna programme is organised on February 22 at 1500 hrs in front of the district collectorate in which NGO's and religious and national leaders will participate, he added.
