25 injured in post election clash in Orissa
Puri, Feb 19 (UNI) In a post election clash in Jaguleipadar village in the district, 25 people were injured, six of them seriously, when the Congress party supporters allegedly hurled bombs at them following defeat of their candidate.
Unofficial counting revealed that CPM candidates had won the panchayat polls in different capacities except Zilla Parishad for which elections were held on February 17.
Enraged at the result, irate Congress supporters allegedly hurled country made bombs on the CPM supporters in Jaguleipadar village under the Kanas block in the district, police said.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. While seven of them were referred to Bhubaneswar hospital as many had been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital here.
The Brahmagiri police have registered a criminal case in connection with the incident.
