Youth sentenced to 7 yrs RI for raping minor girl

Akola, Feb 18 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a youth to seven years rigorous imprisonment, holding him guilty of raping a minor girl.

The court also held 23-year-old Magga alias Suraj Ramkrishna Belsare guilty on two other counts -- kidnapping and for luring the minor girl on the pretext of marrying her. Belsare has been sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment on the first count and to five years rigorous imprisonment on the second.

All the three sentences are to run concurrently and, so, Belsare faces a seven-year sentence.

According to the prosecution case, Belsare had kidnapped the girl on October 9, 2005 from Mankari village. He had taken the girl to Khirkund village, also in Akola district, and had repeatedly raped the her.
