UFBU calls three days Bank strike from March 28

Patna, Feb 18 (UNI) United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called a three-day countrywide strike in the nationalised banks from March 28 to press fulfilment of their charter of demands, including implementation of compassionate appointment scheme.

All India Bank Officers'Confederation (AIBOC) vice-president V Eswaran told newspersons today that the other demands included 2nd option on pension and complete withdrawal of ongoing outsourcing in banks.

'' The UFBU opposes several acts which affect the interests of banking staffs, to name some-- the Merger and Acquisition Amendment Act, Banking Regulation Act and a number of labour legislations,'' he added.

Mr Eswaran said the allelged repressive policy was being adopted in Central Bank of India (CBI) to suppress the agitation of staffs, adding thousands of employees had been served showcause notices by the management for joining the one-day nationwide strike on January 22.

The UFBU has decided to obeserve one-day nationwide token strike on Feb 23 to express the solidarity with the staffs of the CBI, he declared.

Meanwhile, All India Gramin Bank Employee-Officers Association general secretary D N Trivedi today also announced that staffs of 14,500 branches of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the country would take part in the strike on February 23.
