Three dead, 53 injured in road accidents

Dehradun, Feb 18 (UNI) Three persons died and 53 others were injured, including 44 jawans of Prantiya Rakshak Dal, in two different road accident in Uttarakhand today.

According to the Disaster Management Office sources, a jeep heading towards Pavo from Paithani in Pauri district carrying 11 people fell into 46 metre deep gorge on the bank of Paschimi Nayar river at Chipple Ghat killing two on the spot and injuring 9 at about 1100 hrs.

In another incident at Udham Singh Nagar district a truck carrying 46 persons including 44 Prantiya Rakshak Dal personnel, overturned killing one person instantly and injuring others at Govindpur at around 1400 hrs. The truck was heading to Kashipur from Jaspur for election duty. The injured have been admitted to Jaspur Hospital and Kashipur Hospital.
