Reliance Retail in talks with CWC for warehousing facility
Lucknow, Feb 18 (UNI) Reliance Retail Limited is holding talks with the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) to use their storage facilities for its Reliance Fresh stores across the country.
CWC has about 500 warehouses in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerela, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
It is the largest public sector warehousing corporation in Asia, providing logistics support to FCI, ITC, Cargill and other MNCs. The company has a storage capacity of 10 million metric tonnes.
The Corporation has another 2,000 warehousing facilities all over the country in collaboration with the respective state governments.
CWC sources told UNI here today, besides Reliance, another entrant in the Indian retail space Adani Retail had also evinced interest in using its warehousing facilities.
''They are currently in the process of due diligence after holding talks with us,'' sources maintained.
Reliance has already launched several such outlets to sell vegetables and farm products and has ambitious plans lined up.
The company has announced to open stores in 20 major Indian cities and to follow it up by diversification in lifestyle and hypermarkets.
