Provide speedy justice to people: J
Srinagar, Feb 18 (UNI) Calling upon the judicial officers and other employees to be prompt in disposal of cases to provide speedy justice to the people, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Bashir Ahmad Khan said a Mega Lok Adalat would be convened in Srinagar in the first week of March this year.
He said for quick disposal of priority sector cases like matrimonial and motor accidents, judicial officers have been asked to submit their action plan in this regard.
Justice Khan said 16,000 cases were settled recently at a Mega Lok Adalat at Jammu.
He reaffirmed the commitment that the judicial system would be rejuvenated and the judicial officers and staff would be taught the new trends which will go a long way to provide speedy justice at low expenditure to people.
Justice Khan said that through Information Technology, all the decided cases would be put on the internet so that the litigants and other interested parties can download the same to see the directions themselves at their places involving low costs.
He said prompt and good governance was essential for people's welfare and the judiciary has played a vital role.
He said in the rehabilitation of earthquake victims, very effective measures were taken. Similarly, public interest litigants like restoration of pristine glory of Dal Lake, setting right the transport system, providing of convenience for children in schools were taken up on priority.
He emphasised that every work at hand should be time bound and people friendly.
Justice Khan said a Judicial Academy Complex is being constructed at Srinagar with latest facilities in which judges, judicial officers and lawyers would be imparted requisite training about latest trends in judicial set up.
A similar Academy has already been set up in Jammu where 150 judicial officers were provided training.
The training facilities could be extended to judiciary officers of other states as well.
For creating infrastructure facilities in judicial system in the state, a massive construction programme has been launched during the past one and a half year mobilising and arranging a hefty sum of Rs One hundred crore with the fullest cooperation of state government.
He said the network of judiciary in the state has increased manifold and to further strengthen the system, latest techniques and methods are being adopted and computerisation of the system is being started in a phased manner.
