MP budget session likely to be stormy
Bhopal, Feb 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Assembly's budget session, which begins tomorrow, is likely to be a stormy affair courtesy recent communal incidents, the law and order situation, farmers' challenges and other issues.
The session is to get underway with an address by Governor Balram Jakhar and will conclude on April 5. Besides presenting of the Annual Financial Statement, 2007-08 on February 26 by Finance Minister Raghavji -- who will table the budget for the fourth consecutive year -- the Court Fees (Amendment) Bill, Prevention of Cow Slaughter (Amendment) Bill and other proposals for legislation are to be tabled.
The opposition will possibly raise a judicial committee's decision on the Dental and Medical Admission Test, Indore's pension scam, the Lokayukta's deeming certain ministers as guilty, ministers not declaring their assets etc. It is also going to try and place the government in the dock over communal tension at the state's industrial capital Indore, Bioara, Jabalpur and Ujjain.
Sittings may be adjusted in view of the March 8 bypolls to two Lok Sabha constituencies and an Assembly seat.
