Karnataka proposes to set up Anti-Terroroist Squad

Hubli, Feb 18 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Home M P Prakash today said that the State Government proposes to set up a separate anti-terrorist squad to tackle terrorist menace which was trying take root in the State.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that it had also proposed to have a separate Commandant for squad. However, final decision would be taken after Budget session.

Mr Prakash said that it was also proposed to have a separate Commondant for Special Task Force (STF) at present functioning under Director General and Inspector General of Police.

The STF was originally formed to nab forest brigand Veerappan and at present it is active in tackling the Naxal movement in the State.
