Jaya condemns 'Centre's move' for Prez rule in UP
Chennai, Feb 18 (UNI) The All India Anna DMK today strongly condemned the Centre's 'vindictive' move to impose President's rule in Uttar Pradesh.
In a statement here, AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa said UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had declared he would prove his government's majority on the floor of the Legislative Assembly on February 26 which was entirely in conformity with democratic norms and in accordance with the Constitution.
The Governor of Uttar Pradesh should be recalled for his 'blatantly partisan attitude in acting according to the dictates of the Congress ' which was 'notorious' for this type of political manipulation and misuse of power.
The majority or minority status of the Uttar Pradesh Government should be decided only in the Assembly and not in the Raj Bhavan, she added.
The Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre should wait until February 26 and allow Mr Mulayam Singh to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly.
She wanted that all political parties interested in upholding democracy to come forward to condemn the Centre's move to 'murder democracy' by dismissing Mr Yadav's duly elected government.
