Impose Prez rule in UP or face ire of BSP: Mayawati to Cong
Lucknow, Feb 18 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo Mayawati today threatened to launch an agitation against Congress in Uttar Pradesh, if the latter failed to impose President's rule after Supreme Court verdict disqualifying 13 MLAs of the ruling Samajwadi Party.
'' BSP will be forced to launch an agitation against the Congress if the Mulayam Singh Yadav government was not dismissed immediately'', she said.
Addressing a press conference here, Ms Mayawati said Congress should ''look towards'' the people of the state who want an immediate relief from the Samajwadi Party government rather than looking towards the Left Parties.
When asked if BSP would consider withdrawing support from the UPA government if Congress did not clamp Article 356 of the Constitution in UP, she said the party was yet to consider the issue.
Tomorrow, Ms Mayawati will meet governor T V Rajeswar here to submit a memorandum related to the dismissal of the Mulayam government after the SC ruling. Earlier on Thursday also, BSP had submitted a memorandum to the governor over the same issue.
