New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Residents of North and West Delhi now no longer have to take the long journey to the Appu Ghar in Pragati Maidan or Fun and Food Village in Gurgaon to ensure a ''fun filled'' holiday for their tiny tots..

For, an amusement park project built in the heart of North Delhi promises to provide a "fun-filled weekend" for kids, replete with amusement rides, water slides and 3 D entertainment, besides serving as a big "retain shoppe" for the grown ups.

Seeking to combine the experiences of a retail and entertainment destination for Delhiites, specially those residing in the vast North Delhi and West Delhi areas, is the Rohini Amusement Park Project', an ''amusement park and swanky mall rolled into one''.

Promoted by Unitech Amusement Parks Ltd. (UAPL), a 50:50 joint venture between Unitech and International Amusement Ltd. (the promoters of Appu Ghar), the Rohini Amusement Park Project combines the experiences of both a retail and entertainment destination through its two distinct zones. The retail experience is called Metro Walk whereas the amusement park area will be called Adventure Island.

When fully built, the park, located in Sector 10, Rohini, a mere 400 meters from the Rithala metro station, will feature over 20 different rides and other attractions like a children's zone themed around the popular children's entertainment channel POGO and a water park that will feature several long water slides, a large lazy river, fountains and a wave pool.

UAPL also has a license agreement with Turner Networks as part of which they will have a separate zone in Adventure Island called Planet Pogo that will house a MAD Theatre and Pogo Plazas for children. Adventure Island will also include a water park and a multimedia area.

Says Mr, Narayan Singh, Vice President Operations of Unitech, ''the amusement park will be of International standards, seeking to provide a far better ambience and entertainment for kids than present amusement parks like Appu Ghar.

With a total area of 2 lakh sq. ft. 'Metro Walk' is one of the biggest malls in and around Rohini and offers a unique mix of retail, food and entertainment. An artificial lake spread across 3.5 acres will provide a refreshing backdrop to this exclusive retail experience. Themed signages and extensive interiors in vibrant colours will line the central courtyard of the Metrowalk making it the most happening destination in North and West Delhi for the youth to hang out at. In addition to this, there will also be a food court at Metrowalk.'' Toronto-based leading architecture firm Forrec Limited, has designed the layout of the park. Internationally renowned consultants such as City Design Group, Electrosonic, Management Resources and Cini Little have also been roped in to create a world-class amusement park and retail destination that promises to be a one-of-its-kind entertainment destination bigger that anything else in its catchment area.

The first phase, which is expected to be operational in a couple of months, includes the Metro Walk mall, Planet Pogo and 15 rides in the Adventure Island. 42 brands, inclusive of food outlets, are now open in the Metro Walk and 9 rides are operational in the amusement park.

The second phase of the project will include the opening of the rest of the amusement park and the water park.
