BJP terms Cong,TRS alliance as opportunism

Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) President Bandaru Dattatreya today said the political alliance between the Congress and the Telangana Rastra Samathi(TRS) for the ensuing Legislative Council (MLC) elections was nothing but political opportunism.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged the alliance between the two parties indicated the TRS President Chandrasekhara Rao protecting his self-interests and placing them above the separate Telangana movement.

He alleged Mr Rao had showed disrespect towards the Telangana people and their sentiments by forging an alliance with the Congress for two seats.

Both the TRS and the Congress were betraying Telangana people who must understand the real intention of the TRS.

Separate Telangana cannot be achieved by the TRS or the Congress and the BJP would believe in the Congress only when it introduced a bill in Parliament on the issue.

He also took objection to a reported statement of the Telugu Desam Party leaders they had no objection to holding discussions with the TRS if they come forard for seat adjustments for Council elections at some areas.

He wanted to know whether the TDP deviated from its united stand on Telangana by trying to forge allinace with the TRS.
