Birth centenary celebrations of Sri Guruji conclude
New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The year-long birth centenary celebrations of Sri Guruji, the second RSS Sarsanghachalak, concluded here today with more than two lakh people attending the ceremony.
Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the event, with the theme of social harmony, which was also attended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, among others.
Mr Shekhawat called for social harmony in society, saying it is essential to find solution for problems like poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition.
RSS Sarsanghachalak K S Sudarshan, in his address, said the nation was is facing danger from ''jehadi Islam, colonial church, violent Maoists and American consumerism as well as individualism''.
''These dangers not only pose a threat to our nation but also to world peace,'' he said.
In his address, Mr Vajpayee said,''Efforts to bring social harmony are necessary.... Equality is good but harmony is better.'' The year-long celebrations included seminars, intellectual meets, social harmony meetings and essay competitions.
