Assembly secretariat may soon notify disqualification of 13 MLAs

Lucknow, Feb 18(UNI) Hectic political activities are likely to gain momentum from tomorrow with all eyes now on the Uttar Pradesh assembly secretariat, as to when it issues notification on the disqualification of the 13 MLAs as directed by the Supreme Court on Wednesday last.

With governor T V Rajeswar sending his report on the critical political situation in the state after the SC verdict yesterday, now the ball is in the court of the Centre to decide on the fate of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government.

The Governor, meanwhile, is yet to accept the resignation of seven ministers, who are among the 13 MLAs disqualified by the SC.

Meanwhile, Mr Rajeswar attended the closing function of a flower show inside the Raj Bhawan precincts here.

When mediapersons wanted to interact with him, he refused to say anything, quipping they should'' enjoy the flower show, no politics today''.

However, unconfirmed report said that the governor has sought clarification from the assembly speaker about the status of the 24 remaining MLAs of the Loktranktrik Bahujan Dal(LBD).

Principal Secretary (Assembly) A N Mittal said that he has not received any letter from the Rajbhawan but could not say whether it has been delivered to the Speaker's office directly.

Commenting on the issuance of notification to disqualify the MLAs, he said as soon as the assembly secretariat receives the certified copy of the SC judgement, the notification will be issued.

The assembly secretariat will reopen tomorrow after a long weekend.

BSP supreme Mayawati is slated to meet the governor tomorrow morning to press her party's demand for immediate dismissal of the SP government after the SC verdict.

Meanwhile, BJP, after submitting a petition yesterday to disqualify its 10 MLAs, who had cross voted in favour of the SP on January 25, before the fresh trust vote on February 26, will step up its action against the Mulayam Singh Yadav government from tomorrow.

BJP president Rajnath Singh is airdashing here tomorrow evening and will camp here to spearhead the party's role in the present political scenario.
