Dehradun, Feb 18 (UNI) Police today arrested a man armed with a country-made pistol and two cartridges from Almora in Uttarakhand, just before Congress president Sonia Gandhi arrived there to address an election rally.

Almora Superintendent of Police Satish Chandra Shukla told UNI that Kedar Singh, who works as a postal clerk in Almora, was arrested during the security check at the rally ground.

He was taken into custody and preliminary interrogation suggest that he may be mentally unsound, Mr Shukla said.

A joint investigation would be launched into the incident, the SP said.
