Agitation to seek protection of Tamils in K'taka
Puducherry, Feb 18 (UNI) As many as 32 volunteers of the Periyar Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (PDVK) were arrested when they attempted to stage a rail-roko here today.
Alleging threat to the property and rights of the Tamils in Karnataka following the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal and urging the Centre and Karnataka Governments to give protection to the Tamils, the volunteers led by it's president Gokul Gandhi took out a procession here.
Police stopped them near the Railway Gate at Mudaliarpet and arrested them.
Meanwhile, 30 residents of Jyothi Nagar in Mudaliarpet were arrested when they put up a road blockade at the Marappalam Junction to protest the construction of a house in their area by blocking the road.
