Media twisted my comments on Gandhiji: Minister

Jaipur, Feb 17: Rajasthan Social Welfare Minister Madan Dilawar, in the eye of a storm for his comments on Mahatma Gandhi, said that he was misquoted by the media and asserted that he has immense respect for the Father of the Nation.

Mr Dilawar, clarifying that the media has twisted his statements, said, ''I won't utter a single word to lower the prestige and respect associated with Gandhiji.'' A TV channel had telecast a programme recently which showed Mr Dilawar as saying that Mahatma Gandhi cannot be considered the Father of the Nation and that the Congress was behind the conspiracy of providing him such an elevated status.

Independent legislator Pramod Jain Bhaya yesterday lodged a complaint against the minister at Kotwali police station in Baran.
