New land acquisition policy finalised in Bihar

Patna, Feb 17 (UNI) The Bihar Cabinet today approved a land acquisition and rehabilitation policy, enhancing the rate of compensation for the lands acquired for execution of various development schemes.

State Cabinet Coordination secretary Girish Shankar said the state Cabinet gave its approval to the new land acquisition policy at its meeting today.

He said the land owners would get 50 per cent more compensation than earlier if their land was acquired by the government.

He said the sufferers would also get fifty per cent 'solacium' for the land acquired.

'' In the event of the residential plots, it would be mandatory for the state government to provide plot of five decimals of land to those displaced due to acquisition, '' he added.

In another important decision, the Cabinet gave its nod for appointment of Nyaya Mitra (law aide) in Gram Kutchery (village court). The law aides would be appointed on contractual basis for the period of five years on a monthly honorarium of Rs 2500 per month.
