NCC set to reach out to rural areas: Lt Gen Chaudhary
Nagpur, Feb 17 (UNI) Lt Gen Prakash Chaudhary, Director General of NCC, today said the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is all set to impart modern training to the cadets, apart from reaching out to rural parts of the country.
The NCC is preparing a syllabus of communication skills training and also planning to open computer training centres, said Gen Chaudhary while addressing reporters at Kamptee in this district after the passing out parade of successful officer-cadets and the Pipping Ceremony.
He said in the era of business process outsourcing (BPO) boom, every student needs to be equipped with communication skills and hence a syllabus of communication skills training is being prepared. Computer training centres are also being opened at Directorate level. Attention is being paid towards developing cadets' personality so that more of them get selected in the Forces.
Though there is a problem in availability of funds in some states, it is not the case in Maharashtra. There are 13 lakh cadets of NCC across the country, 17 Directorates, 95 headquarters, and 795 units. To reach out to rural parts, the vacancies are being increased, he said.
In recent times, the participation from Jammu and Kashmir, and North Eastern state has been superb, he said while replying to a question.
