Manjunath murder case posted to Feb 26

Lakhimpur Kheri, Feb 17 (UNI) The district court today posted the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) marketing official V Manjunath murder case for the next hearing to February 26.

The defence counsel had prayed for more time to produce witnesses.

District judge S M A Abdi fixed February 26, 27, 28 and March 1 for the next hearing.

However, the court has given time till February 24 to the defence for providing written evidence.

Manjunath's bullet-riddled body was found in the nearby Sitapur district on November 19, 2005. A car was also recovered in the case.

The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) alumni was an upright government servant and had taken a tough stand regarding adulteration of fuel in the district by some petrol outlets.

Several witnesses have already turned hostile in the case.
