Jyotiraditya warns against ''rally politics''

Gwalior, Feb 17 (UNI) Guna Congress MP and Scindia scion Jyotiraditya today fired a broadside at All India Congress Committee General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh by saying that organising rallies sans permission amounted to indiscipline and ''rally politics'' might prove lethal for the party.

''Today's rally in Morena district's Jaura is not part of any competition. Union Home Minister Shivraj V Patil, Congress General Secretary V Narayansamy, state Congress President Subhash Yadav and other senior leaders are participating,'' Mr Scindia told journalists in this citadel town.

Taking a dig, he said that certain persons were constantly organising rallies by turning a Nelson's eye on the orders of the state unit and general secretary. ''Such persons claim they are doing the work of uniting the Congress but the rallies reveal the gap between their words and deeds,'' Mr Scindia added.

Without naming Mr Singh, he said that a person who first resolved not to occupy any party post and then accepted a key post could not be viewed as working in the Congress' interests.

''The person who was once known for his dignity, began saying during the 2003 assembly elections that he did not need upper caste votes. He assaulted an innocent person in Ujjain and accused Shivpuri's farmers of power theft,'' Mr Scindia alleged.

In the context of a certain remark made by Mr Singh about the late Madhavrao Scindia during a recent rally at Shivpuri, Mr Scindia said that his family did not need any kind of certificate.
