Initiate immediate steps to render justice to Madani: PDP
Kottayam, Feb 17 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) working chairman Poonthura Siraj today demanded immediate steps to deliver justice to Abdul Nassar Madani, who is incarcerated as a 'remand prisoner' in connection with the Coimbatore bomb blast case.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the PDP would launch massive agitations demanding justice to Madani, continuation of Ayurveda treatment to him and speedy disposal of the case.
Referring to Mr Madani's case, he charged that it was for the first time in the history of the country that a person was being treated as a 'remand prisoner' for nearly a decade.
He would complete nine years on March 31 as a 'remand prisoner' without even getting conditional bail.
The PDP leadership would held a meeting at Ernakulam on February 23, to chalk out the future course of action, he said.
Mr Siraj also criticised the MPs and Union Ministers from Kerala for not taking effective steps to protect the interest of the state.
He alleged that the Opposition led by Mr Oommen Chandy was a failure.
Defending CPI (M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, he said charges and allegations levelled against Mr Pinarayi Vijayan were tantamount to pelting stones at a mountain.
