Dense fog affects air and rail traffic in Delhi
New Delhi, Feb 17: Delhiites woke up to dense fog this morning which affected air and rail traffic.
More than 33 flights were delayed this morning and as many as five were diverted to other cities, as visibility dropped to 50 metres at the Delhi airport.
An Airports Authority spokesperson said low visibility procedure was enforced at the airport through the morning.
''The operations have returned to normal now and flights are departing and landing on time,'' he added.
Several trains were also delayed due to fog. Vehicular traffic in the city was also affected.
After maintaining the rising trend for three days, the mercury in the capital today dipped to 9.1 degrees celsius.
Yesterday the mercury had climbed to 11.5 Degree Celsius from the previous days 9.6 Degree Celsius.
The cold South Easterly winds maintained a chill in the air despite the capital experiencing a sunny day interspersed with cloudy intervals.
The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thunderstorms or light rains in some areas.
