Coimbatore, Feb 17: All India Congress Working Committee Member and Tamil Nadu in-charge, M Veerappa Moily, today said the aggrieved states have the liberty to file an appeal before Tribunal or Special Leave Application (SPL) in Supreme Court on sharing of Cauvery waters.

Talking to Mediapersons here, he said every state had the legal right in the rule of law. As per Section 5/3 of Inter-State Water Disputes Act, the Tribunal Verdict could be challenged by the affected states before the Tribunal or through a SPL.

When asked whether this would delay the implementation of the Tribunal verdict, he said to get justice to the states they can go to the court. It cannot be questioned.

The present DMK government had implemented most of the promises made during the election and it was functioning satisfactorily Mr Moily said. He alleged that the previous AIADMK government would think about their election promises only when the next election comes.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Sonia Gandhi were giving full support to the present DMK government and all the promises given by the state government had been fulfilled, he said.

In Tamil Nadu 40 per cent of voters did not support any political partyMr Moily said adding that the Congress had taken the initiative to capture those 40 per cent votes to become more powerful.

The party would revamp district and state level bodies and each and every grassroot worker would be given work to avoid any groupism in the party, he said.
