Bengal: A woman seriously injured in explosion

Barrackpore, Feb 17: A woman was seriously injured in following an explosion in front of the Deputy Labour Commissioner's Office complex in North 24 Parganas today.

Police here said the 60-year-old rag picker might have tried to pick up a tin container, filled with explosive materials from a bush.

Her hand had been severed from the body due to the explosion, police said, adding she was rushed to Dr B N Bose Sub-divisional hospital.

''Investigation is on and we have also requested the army to send 'ballistic experts' to find out the nature of explosives,'' police added.
