JK: 40000 children given nutrition and medicare
Sriangar, Feb 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has provided nutrition, medicare and pre-education facilities to 40,000 children upto six years of age in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
He said these facilities are being provided through 3299 Anganwari centers set up in Baramulla district during the current financial year.
About 29,000 expectant women and other girls are also being provided nutrition and knowledge with regard to vaccination, sanitation and health care.
For this purpose, 5795 quintals of nutrition worth Rs 3.10 crore has been utilized so far during the period, he said, adding 11,156 deserving people have been covered under the Integrated Social Security Scheme(ISSS) for which Rs 84 lakh was given as financial assistance from October, 2006 to December, 2006.
In all, 29,504 persons are presently receiving this financial assistance, under this programme, he said.
