"We can form a government on our own in Uttarkhand" : BJP

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) The BJP today said that the party would do well in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttarakhand and it was confident of forming the government on its own.

BJP Spokesman Prakash Javadekar claimed the BJP would be able to win enough number of seats to form the government on its own in the elections and the matter now hinged on the ''luck'' factor. ''The ruling Congress party had promised creation of two lakh jobs a year in Uttarakhand, when it came to power five years ago and the BJP wanted them to release the list of those provided with employement for the last five years,'' he said.

He said the state government had totally failed to curb prices of essential commodities after having promised to do so and its order to provide 70 per cent employments to sons of the soil had remained only on paper. ''The migration of youths outside the state had created a new level of records,'' Mr Javedekar said, adding that the objective of creation of Uttarkhand was to create more jobs for the hill-people of the Himalayan state ''but things had turned bad to worse under Congress regime.'' Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani, BJP President Rajnath Singh and senior leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley would be making several rounds of campaign in various parts of the state for the next two days, Mr Javedekar said.
