New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) BJP leader and former Union Minister Vijay Goel today courted arrest along with several other party activists, while protesting against the unabated rise in the prices of commodities.

Mr Goel and others courted arrest after a huge demonstration by BJP workers at Chandni Chowk to protest against the rise in prices of commodities like onion and dal.

Coming down on the state Government for its inability to stem the rise in prices of commodities be it onion or dal, Mr Goel said, ''the rise in prices is in sharp contrast to the situation under the rule of the NDA at the Centre under the Prime Ministership of Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee when prices of all commodities were fully under control.'' On the one hand, the Government has reduced the prices of diesel and petrol, while it is unable to control commodity prices. And now, it is also going to raise the power tariffs. This shows that the Government is aloof from the hardships being faced by the common man due to the price rise, Mr Goel added.

He said he planned to take out a 16 km 'padyatra' on February 21 in protest against the price rise.
