Jaipur, Feb 16: The Thar Express between Munabao in India and Khokhrapar in Pakistan will resume its journey tomorrow after a gap of six months following floods in Barmer.

S B Gandhi, deputy general manager, North-Western Railways, told sources the link train with Pakistan-bound passengers would start from Jodhpur around 0100 hrs today for Munabao.

The link train will reach Munabao at 0700 hrs in the morning tomorrow and will halt there for three hours where the passengers can get their immigration and custom check done. Then the Thar Express will leave for Pakistan's Zero Line station. The train will stop for two hours there.

Then the Thar Express will carry back India-bound passengers for Munabao around 1200 hrs. The link train from Munabao would start around 1900 hrs and will reach Jodhpur on Sunday morning.

At least 30 Indian railway employees on Thar Express have been issued visas by Pakistan for six months.

The Thar Express had been stopped as the Kawas railway station through which it passed, got totally submerged under seven to eight feet water, following floods in Barmer in August last year.

The Railways and district administration had been engaged in draining and pumping out flood water in the past few months, although the process has been long. The railways repaired the tracks and laid new ones in place of totally damaged ones.

The Pakistan Railway have also laid new tracks at the Zero Point Railway station.
