Terrorism no hurdle to Lanka sports: coach
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Feb 16 (UNI) Sri Lanka's seven-a-side football team Coach A D T Vikramsuri has claimed that terrorism was not a hurdle to the island nation's sports development.
''Politics is also not a barrier to sports there,'' he told UNI.
Pointing out that seven-a-side football was nascent, Vikramsuri added that it would gather momentum gradually.
The Bhutan team Coach Jigmi said that seven-a-side football had been played in his country and several rules were modified while Jigmi's Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Mohammad Nurul Islam said, ''an attempt is underway to make the game more engrossing.'' The Indian team's Manager Rajesh Kumar described seven-a-side football as a new experiment that was proving successful.
A tournament gets underway here today and is also witnessing participation by Pakistan, Nepal and The Maldives.
