Tata Motors gets Golden Peacock Global Award 2007

Kolkata, Feb 16: Tata Motors has received Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) in the"Large Business" category by Institute of Directors, an international body of company directors.

A Tata Motors release said here today that the company received the award based on assessment by an independent jury on CSR issues like corporate functioning, responsiveness to the needs of different stakeholders and development of innovative partnership models to fulfil social responsibilities.

The jury comprised distinguished personalities from across the world, under the Chairmanship of Dr Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden.

The Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is conferred annually. ''Tata Motors is honoured to accept this award. It is a global recognition of our CSR practices,'' Tata Motors Senior General Manager-Corporate HR M B Paralkar said.

The Institute of Directors has instituted the Golden Peacock Awards to promote corporate excellence in areas of quality, innovation, training, governance, environment management and corporate social responsibility.

The award would be presented at the second Global Conference on Social Responsibility at Vilamoura in Portugal.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company with revenues of US$ 5.5 billion in 2005-06. With over 4 million Tata vehicles plying in India, it is the leader in commercial vehicles and the second largest in passenger vehicles. It is also the world's fifth largest medium and heavy truck manufacturer and the second largest heavy bus manufacturer.
