Talks of Big B entering active politics gather steam

Kanpur, Feb 16: The talks of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan entering active politics seems to be gathering steam.

Asked about Mr Bachchan's possible candidature as a Samajwadi Party nominee for the coming President's post, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and ruling SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the presidential polls were still afar.

''Our party will take a unanimous decision on the whole issue...it would be too early to say anything on the topic,'' he added.

SP General Secretary and Mr Bachchan's close aide Amar Singh had expressed desire of making Big B the party's nominee for the President's post.

The Superstar has already played a political innings. In 1984, he was elected to Lok Sabha from Allahabad. However, he resigned in 1987 and has stayed away from active politics eversince.
