Satyendra Puroskar-2006 goes to science writer Dilip Bandopadhyay
Kolkata, Feb 16 (UNI) Well known science fiction writer Dilip Kumar Bandopadhyay will receive the 2006 Satyendra Puroskar (award) for popularising science among growing children.
Instituted by the department of Science and Technology, government of West Bengal, the annual award, comprises a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation and a shawl, which would be given to Dr Bandopadhyay at a function here on February 28.
'Bharater Nadi,' the book for which Dr Bandopadhyay was adjudged the 'best popular science writer,' is being taught at Higher Secondary level in the state.
Former Director of Geological Survey of India Mr Bandopadhyay told UNI '' I feel honoured to receive the award.'' UNI
