New channel to promote traditional Indian medical practices in US

Mumbai, Feb 16 (UNI) Zee Television Chairman Subhash Chandra today announced the launch of his new channel in the US that will enlighten western viewers regarding traditional Indian medical practices.

Addressing a conclave on 'Medical Tourism' organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here Mr Chandra pointed out,''Now even the western world is awakening to the effectiveness of ancient Indian medical wisdom. Several ailments which have no cure in the allopathic system of medicine, can be treated with Ayurveda.

In fact Yoga is better than most other forms of exercise in maintaining health and well-being.'' Mr Chandra has set up TALEEM (Transnational Alternative Learning for Emancipation and Empowerment through Multimedia), an organisation which seeks to provide access to quality education and to promote research in various disciplines relating to health and family life, social&cultural anthropology, communication and media. He is also the trustee for the Global Vippassana Foundation a trust set up for helping people in spiritual upliftment.

''As India gears up to promote itself to the world as the ideal destination for all kinds of medical services, it would be prudent to incorporate and promote traditional Indian medical practices like Ayurveda and Yoga,'' he said.
