NABARD gives more than Rs 370 crores to Tripura for agricultural dev

Agartala, Feb 16 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has granted a loan of Rs 370 crores and 17 lakhs for agricultural development of Tripura, an official release said here today.

As per the NABARD plan, the loan money would be spent for the rural developement of four districts of the state, out of which West District would get lion's share of the loan amount. The district would receive an amount of Rs 205 crores 58 lakh for the development works in agriculture and other related sectors, the release said.

The three other districts South, North and Dhalai would get Rs 88.51 crores, Rs 46.52 crores and Rs 30.09 crores respectively during the 2007-08 financial year.

NABARD regional office General Manager V Mohandas announced the the loan at a seminar organised here yesterday where he informed that the agricultural sector would be given top priority in the field of providing loan by the department.

NABARD had allocated an amount of Rs 228 crores 96 lakhs for the development of infrastructure in 384 project in the state.
