Gujarat Governor confers Tankara awards

Rajkot, Feb 16 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma today conferred 'Tankara Shri', 'Tankara Ratna' and 'Tankara Mitra' awards to three persons for their outstanding contribution to promotion of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Smark Trust at Tankara, the birth place of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati.

The Governor conferred awards to Usha Arora, Ranjitbhai Parmar and Ladhabhai Patel respectively.

Mr Sharma said he was very pleased to be here to attend the Yajurved Parayan Mahayagna on the concluding day, which was organised by Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Smark Trust, Tankara.

Referring to a written note for renaming of the Saurashtra University, he said he had not received any proposal for renaming of the University as 'Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University'.

He said for the renaming of the university, the authority has to get sanction from the Gujarat government after approving the resolution in the Syndicate and the Senate. Then he would act on it.

The Governor also released 'Tankara Samachar' and Tankara Prasad', monthly magazines, published by the Trust.

On the occasion, the members of the Trust presented Dayanand Saraswati's mahagranth 'Satyarthprakash' to the Governor.

The Trust's chief Vidyadevji said nearly 15,000 followers from America, Nepal, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Mahrashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat had attended the Yagyna, which began here on February 10.
