Dead body of an infant girl found from garbage

Phagwara, Feb 16 (UNI) The body of a newly-born female infant was found from a roadside garbage heap near village Chachoki of this district this morning.

Village Panch Surinder Paul, who was the first to spot the dead infant,immediately informed the local police, which registered a case under section 318 IPC and has started investigations.

Phagwara SDM Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal told UNI that health authorities have also been instructed to investigate from nearby midwives and nursing homes to trace the parents of the dead infant.

The body has been sent to civil hospital for post-morterm examination.
