Acharya Dinesh Ch Sen Gold Award conferred on Amartya Sen

Santiniketan, Feb 16 (UNI) Nobel Laureate Prof Amartya Sen was today conferred the Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen Memorial Gold Award for his contribution towards literature and society.

The award was given to him by the Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen Research Society.

Speaking at the function, Prof Sen said, ''I am honoured to receive this award as I have always been inspired by Acharya Dinesh Chandra Sen's writings.'' Referring to globalisation, West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim said, ''In this era of globalisation, we need to address the issue of unemployment for the progress of industry in our country.''
