VSP breaks record, excel in performance

Visakhapatnam, Feb 15 (UNI) Visakhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP) Chairman and Managing Director, Y Sivasagar Rao today said Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited(RINL) the flagship company of VSP continued to excel in its performance, breaking the previous records.

Talking to newspersons here, he said during the nine months period in 2006-07, the liquid steel production was 2.776 million tonnes and the saleable steel was 2.419 million tonnes. The labour productivity was 408 tonnes man-year which was also the highest for the period, he added.

Mr Rao said VSP recorded a sales turnover of Rs 6143 crore for the period in April to December, 2006, with a growth of ten per cent over the corresponding period last year. Eight lakh tonnes of special steel was produced and sold in this period with a growth of 39 per cent over the last year.

RINL would celebrate its silver jubilee function from February 18 to 20. Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, among others, would mark the occasion.
