Dehradun, Feb 15: Former BJP chief M Venkaiah Naidu today claimed the people of Uttarakhand had realised their ''mistake'' of not voting the BJP to power in the last assembly election and would correct it by giving the party a chance this time.

Mr Naidu, who is campaigning here for the February 21 Assembly election, told reporters here that the BJP was viewing the polls ''very seriously as it was a newly formed state''.

He said the BJP government did not get much time in the state earlier and the Congress government in its five years tenure had left it ''directionless, developmentless and corruption infested.'' The mood of the people revealed their desire to bring the BJP back in power, Mr Naidu said.

''It is not my personal prediction but the pulse and mood of the voters,'' he added.

The BJP leader said three issues affecting the national politics comprised inflation, UPA government's failure to solve internal security problems and discontentment amongt the rural population specially the farmers.

He said NDA would take on the UPA government on these issues in Parliament.

''They have no clue on the issues,'' he alleged.

Critising the Left he said ''it was only making noise, not voice.'' ''Their job is limited to show a green flag inside the parliament and a red outside,'' Mr Naidu said adding that both the UPA and the Left were exhibiting callous attitude in dealing with these serious problems.

Commenting on Chief Minister N D Tiwari, the BJP leader said he had an apprehension of his party's defeat hence has withdrown from the election fray.
