Six killed, 10 injured in wall collapse

Akola, Feb 15 (UNI) Six persons were killed and 10 others injured, some of them seriously, when the wall of a 55-year-old Kila Masjid, under renovation, collapsed at Roshan Pura village in the district.

The incident occurred last night at 2130 hrs, police said today.

The deceased have been identified as Mazhar Hussain Khatib, Saibut Khatib, Arif Khan Raiytat Khan, Mohd Asif Hanif, Imran Khan Aman Ulla Khan and Mohd Rais alias Abbu Khan, hospital sources said.

The sub-divisional civil and police officials immediately rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operations. Even the health officials reached the spot to provide first aid to the injured.

The seriously injured persons were shifted to the civic hospital here.

District Collector Eknath Dawle, former minister Azhar Hussain, City NCP chief Yusuf Ali and BJP MP Sanjay Dhotre visited a local hospital at Murtizapur and enquired about well being of the injured, sources added.
